SURFING
Obviously surfing and longboarding in particular is big news round here! The best entry point for the paddle to the line-up is about 45 seconds walk from Casa Carrizo making it pretty much the closest house to the point! The wave here is unbelievably consistent offering bigger more challenging sections at the point and a beginner-friendly section on the inside. There are also several other spots close by for intermediate and more advanced surfers.
LESSONS
If you are a beginner; want to learn how to surf or improve your skills - our favourite instructors are Leo (+52 755 133 2325 @mexcallisurfschool) and Cristo (+52 755 132 8828 @crist0pher.damian). They both speak English and taught our kids and several of our friends how to surf!

SURFBOARD HIRE
There are a bunch of places to hire boards on the beach - in our opinion Sergio (+52 755 116 0939) and Brandon (+52 755 108 3772 @brandonsurf.saladita) have the biggest and best selection of boards. Sergio operates out of Oly's bar - so you can just pitch up and chat to him and Brandon can be found a bit further up on the beach towards the point. Most of the boards to rent are longboards but there are always a few shortboards, paddle-boards as well. Boards are hired by the session, the day, week or longer . . . there are also boards to buy should you want to.

SURF TRIPS
Boat trips to different surf spots can be booked with Benito who you can find at Benny's Restaurant on the beach. A typical four-hour trip (that can be combined with fishing and/or whale-watching and costs $150 and can take up to 6/7 people.

FISHING / WHALE-WATCHING TRIPS
Benito is also happy to take people on whale-watching and fishing trips for the same price. Like the surf trips - they tend to leave early in the morning and the success rate for catching fish like Black Mackerel and Pacific Mackerel is remarkably high! You can then ask Mirna (Benito's wife) to cook your catch up for you or feel free to take it home and cook it there.

YOGA
There is sporadic yoga available in Saladita and is generally practised at The Templo which is right behind Casa Carrizo! If you join this WhatsApp group - you can ask what is available at the current time - otherwise Troncones offers a regular resource for all different types of classes. Present Moment Yoga Center is one of the main ones, with several other options besides.

HORSEBACK RIDING ON THE BEACH
Brandon's brother Victor keeps horses for all different levels of equestrian abilities! Please contact Brandon (+52 755 108 3772 @brandonsurf.saladita) and he can organise it for you.
DEEP SEA FISHING
There are a number of fishing charters in Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa that you can find on the internet to arrange a deep sea fishing excursion, or alternatively you can go down to the port in Zihua and ask around.

SNORKELLING
You can take a boat from the embarcadero in Ixtapa next to Playa Linda (and next to the cocodrilario which is definitely worth a look!) over to Ixtapa Island (Isla Ixtapa), a little island with restaurants and a coral reef just off Playa Coral which is fabulous for snorkelling!

MAJAHUA CAVES
The Majahua Caves are impressive caves found on the top of a hill North East of Troncones and contain engravings from the Olmec people who thrived in Mexico before the Aztecs around 1200-400 BC. Most taxi drivers will know the way there. The walk up there is a challenging and steep 30-40 minutes long so bring plenty of water and good shoes and avoid the midday sun! And don’t forget to bring a torch.

HOT SPRINGS
If you have rented a car – a great excursion is to the curative local hot springs 20 mins drive away! The first pool is full of the fish that eat your dead skin à la Thailand and then the pools get hotter as you go up the hill; the top one is super hot and has the magic clay which when used as a mask makes your skin feel amazing! To get there – drive as if you’re going to Zihua, and once you’re on the highway you want to take a left up a dirt track opposite the turning on the left to Lagunillas. Follow the dirt-track for about 8-10 mins - there is a fork in the road – but keep left until you hit a clearing where you can park.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
